New Orleans Pasta Recipe

We are in the home stretch to try and do what we call a "soft" opening soon. This is the stage before the Grand Opening. We are going to try and open (as always, pending no major monkey wrenches) at the end of the month. We will only be open Wednesday-Sunday during the soft opening, and I will post the hours. Lunch, tea, birthday parties will all be offered as usual. This will give us time to train our new staff and finish all the decoration details. After the Grand Opening, at the end of March, it will be business as usual! I will be working to get the new website up and running as well.

Also, FYI
Positions we are currently hiring for:

  • Assistant Chef
  • Prep Cook
  • Dishwashers/Busboys
  • Wait Staff
  • If you or anyone you know are interested in any of these positions please send an inquiry to and she will send you the information on the position, and hopefully set you up with an interview to talk to us!

I'm posting pictures of the progress going on at the tearoom on Facebook. Walls are going up. The flooring has been purchased. Things are starting to move along. We are working with a sign company this week to have a beautiful new sign that stays within our budget, and we also will put up a temporary sign so that people will know that we are opening soon! I have also been working on restoring some vintage light fixtures for the main dining room and possibly some sconces for the party rooms. We still have major plumbing and electrical work to do next. After the City of Plano signs off on all of our floor plans I will share them here. I've added some comments along with the Facebook photos to add more context as you look through them.

So, I've been working closely with my general contractor over these last several weeks. We had initial bids on everything, but now we are trying to nail down final bids with a few subcontractors. The numbers have not been encouraging. The master plumber and electrician we originally wanted to use are not available now. This has slowed things down even further. Some very good news is that the building owner has put in a brand new roof and air conditioner units!! We are very grateful for that! I am hoping, hoping, hoping to open up in December! I'm just going to put that out there and maybe it will happen. We can't take any reservations yet though. Work on the floor and new walls will be happening SOON. I am posting the before pictures again, and everyone just imagine how great it will look soon...

I was hoping to have more news on the progress of the building by this point. Unfortunately, I have no new pictures to show you of that. The good news I DO have is that we are FINALLY signing the papers to close on the SBA loan this week!!! I know it seemed like forever, believe me I had to live through it! It is a long process. I'm also meeting with my contractor and architect this week to go over other plans on how things are progressing.

What I want to share with you are some of the ideas that I plan on for the new place, and that I have in my business plan that was submitted to the bank and SBA. I know that I've mentioned we'll have our own space and own parking lot several times. But, it goes beyond that. On the surface, we will still always be Into My Garden. Those who know me know that I have worked at IMGT on and off as the chef since 2002. I became owner in 2011. I have no plans of overhauling IMGT. But, with our bigger space we can do so much more...

We will now have two actual private (no more semi-private) party rooms. I am working with the contractor and architect to try to have a retractable wall so that the two rooms can become one BIG room for large parties! We will have earlier and later hours (possibly, but not on the record yet, 8am-5pm), and we will be open on Sundays. This means more flexibility for dining and party hours. Certain extra large parties can be held after hours as well. We're also going to try out a modest breakfast menu.

We will have a small lobby and retail area with a hostess stand, with places to sit if you are waiting on a friend or two.

We still and always will welcome children of all ages and will continue to do children's tea parties. We will now hold all children's Princess and Garden Party Birthday Parties in the private party rooms! Also, we now will finally have grilled cheese sandwiches on the children's lunch menus.

Speaking of the lunch menu. Nothing dramatic will be changing there. So, nothing to worry about. Although....I have made a couple of changes to make things easier for ordering purposes. Mainly making ordering easier for the customers. Nothing has gone away. What I have added is more sandwiches, hoping to bring in a bit more of a demographic we don't see much of (hint, hint). To that, I have also added some delicious paninis that anyone can appreciate! On Saturdays and Sundays we are bringing back our Brunch Plate which includes our yummy Quiche Lorraine and our famous hash brown casserole!!

Another thing that we have heard many requests for. We have turned the Cream Tea into a non-reservation tea service. It is a small tea service, but we think it will meet the needs of customers coming in to have a pot of tea with light refreshments. We will still have the three reservation only teas, Royal, Tea in Three Tiers, and the Combination Tea. Also, with our later hours customers can come in, or make reservations for tea at what many people consider "tea time" between 3-5 pm. Of course, we will still serve tea at anytime during our hours of operation! We will still be doing catering. At first it will still be as before, customer pick up or we can deliver on a drop off, limited time schedule. However!! As we grow, we do have it in the business plan to expand on this to become more of a full service catering operation. We are very excited about this!

More exciting news though...we will be applying for a beer and wine license!! This means we can provide wine and champagne for all of your special events (or even just lunch, which can always be a special event)!! I was thinking of stocking just wine and champagne (sparkling wine) at first, but if you tell me you want beer, I can stock that too! Sherry goes very nicely with tea parties as well.

I know this has gotten long, but I wanted to let everyone know what I have been working on for this new place. It might no longer be the little hole in the wall, but that will not affect our service to you, our valued customers, in the least! Service has always been and always will be our number one priority to making your experience exceptional. Well, service and excellent food! For those who remember JJ and Diane, they are still on board and plan on coming back when we reopen. I am going to try and get Miguel back too, and we'll have a round of new great servers. Please keep praying for us and thank you everyone!!

If you have did not give us your email back when we were still in business and would like to get more information on even more details (e.g. Grand Opening insider information), please message your email to me so I can put you on the list. Thanks!

In the last three months, nothing new has happened worth sharing up until now. Finally, I have some exciting news to tell!! After what seems like forever, we are in the final closing procedures of our Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan!!! We are so thankful to American National Bank of Texas for making all of this happen! Before long we will be able to start construction again and reopen the doors to Into My Garden Tea Room, Cafe & Catering at 1726 Avenue K in Plano! There are no new pictures to show at this time, as nothing new has been done to the building. We have some money saved up thanks to investors, donations to our goFundMe site, and purchases from our eBay store. I want to thank everyone who had a part in helping us there. We are going to get the architect and his engineers back up and going with that money. It might still be a few weeks before the closing on the loan is finished. Then, we can go back to full-steam ahead work on the building. The only bad news is....until then, I cannot set a reopening date. This really does hurt my heart, because so many people have asked and I wish I could answer. We want to open so badly and see everyone again!! Thank you everyone for your prayers and letting us know how much the tea room means to you. We also still have all of the emails that we have collected and will be sending out a proper letter confirming our reopen date when it is set, location and invitation to our grand opening festivities!! We haven't forgotten about you! Now, that things are going to start humming again it won't be so long between updates! Thank you again, everyone!

We have had some unfortunate setbacks over the last two months that have put us behind schedule for reopening the tea room. We are unable to give a clear date for reopen at this time. The good news is, we are not giving up! We are forging ahead and have a plan in place for our next steps. If you would like to support our efforts in getting the tea room open again we have two ways:

First, we have an eBay store established at here, where we sell our loose leaf teas, and now we offer our New Orleans Pasta Sauce dry mix. You can make our popular pasta at home now! A link to our recipe is located right on our website homepage.

Another way to help is to go to our goFundMe page and donate. With your donation we offer great "Thank you" gifts. If you would like a description of the rewards, a link is located here on our homepage as well.

We want to thank all of our supporters, Facebook fans, and Twitter followers! We are so fortunate and grateful to have so much support! We can't wait to see everyone again soon!

Great News!! We have found a new location!!

We will be in our own building at 1726 Avenue K, right at the 18th St. intersection! This is only blocks from our previous location! The one downside is that we will need time to renovate the building which may take 2-3 months. We will be easier to find now, and we will have our own parking lot!! We'll keep you updated on our progress as things move along. Thank you for your continued support!

Dear Loyal Customers and All Who Have Just Found Us,

Into My Garden has been at the 1017 E. 15th St. location in Plano, TX for 15 happy years. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have to close operations for the time being and relocate. We are in the process of finding a new home and reopening as soon as we possibly can. This process is very important to all of us. We want the new place to be even better than it was before so that we can serve you better. We know that parking is a big concern, being easier to find and definitely a larger space! These are all priorities for us. Please check back to this website, our Facebook page and you can also follow us on Twitter to keep track of our progress. Thank you for all of your support. We definitely feel it, we want to get back up and running more than anything! We will see you all again very soon!
